Dr. Raul M. Soto PhD/Ma
His involvement in the martial arts spans almost four decades, having
started in the early seventies under the guidance of Grand Master Louis
Lagarejos of Sikaran Karate. An ancient Philippine art of
ftootfighting, that like the arts of feudal Japan was only taught to
family members.
In 1981, wanting to further his knowledge and practice at a dojo closer
to his home, he met Soke Carlos Diaz, who at the time was teaching
karate and kobudo at the community center of Sabana Gardens, Carolina.
The following year, he co-founds along with Dr. Diaz and a small group
of his black belts what today we know as Sei Ryoku Zen Yo Karate of
Puerto Rico. He has been instrumental in the organization and written
many of the manuals used by their system under the leadership of Dr.
Diaz. Currently he is a ninth degree black belt of Sei Ryoku Zen Yo
Karate of P.R., also having black belt certifications in Goju and Tae
Kwon Do.
He has had the opportunity to train with some of the best Martial
Artist; such as the Grand Patriarch of All American Go'ju Systems,
Peter Urban, Professors Moses Powell,Buddy Van Boven, Joseph
Keiljchian, Dr. Giovani Acevedo and Michael Difillipo.
At the time he is Vice-president of the International Association of
Karate- Kobudo of Puerto Rico and Acting Board Member of The World
Union of Sokes. A five time Hall of Fame Inductee and member of the
following organizations; The World Martial Arts League, The World
Jug-Tai Head Society, The World Combat Arts Federation, The Worldwide
Alliance of Martial Arts and The Eastern U.S.A. International Martial
Arts Association.
